Modernizing legacy systems is some of the most important - and difficult - work in government. As part of the Legacy Modernization Tooling project, we're building AI-powered tools to accelerate legacy modernization across government. We’re moving beyond simple "wrappers" to build intelligent assistants that help teams understand decades-old codebases, auto-generate high-fidelity documentation, and map legacy data schemas. We are currently in the 0→1 phase: validating problems directly with modernization teams, shipping prototypes, and proving value in the field.
The Opportunity: Be a force multiplier for modernization teams across government. Your work could save thousands of hours for modernization teams, accelerate critical projects, and ultimately, create better experiences for end-users relying on these modernized systems.
• Build AI-native tools: Develop intelligent agents using LLMs. Engineer prompts to accurately analyze and document complex legacy codebases.
• Ship using modern infrastructure: Gain hands-on experience with a modern tech stack. Deploy resilient applications.
• Drive rapid prototyping: Move from concept to code quickly in a 0→1 environment. Iterate on prototypes based on real-time feedback from agency pilots.
